Friday Morning Club Ride: 40 miles

Friday Morning Club Ride: 40 miles

Rain was threatened this morning. I had volunteered to lead a B paced ride out of Mercer County Park at the ice skating rink. I wasn’t sure if it would ever take place. The turnout was not too good. But I did get 4 guys to sign my Ride Leader Sheet so I’d get credit for the ride. Now I’ve got 11 of those sheets for the year. I left with my guys at exactly 9 AM when the ride was supposed to start. All the other leaders were stalled in the gates. As a result, I think my ride was the first to return to the parking lot. There were no club officials present to give out the promised can of soft drink nor cookie. Bummer!! But we did not get rained on, and we had a very good ride. The average pace was 15.9 mph – which is very respectable for a B ride. I never shifted out of my little chainring which is a 34. I was riding my CX bike with the heavy tires. I had fun.
