Saturday Morning Pia Ride: 38 miles
Pia rode to my house, and then we went for this 40ish-mile ride. I was coaching her on how to properly climb hills out of the saddle. She an expert at climbing hills in the saddle spinning along, but when it comes to powering her way over hills she needs some work. And she needs to do a bunch of it in preparation for her final attempt racing the Ironman in October at Kona. Powering up hills is like riding into a headwind on the flats. And Kona has plenty of headwinds on the flats. I’m glad I didn’t have to climb as many hills as Pia this morning. She’s in such good shape right now. CLICK HERE to see the route we did.
Pia did hill sets on Fairview Road, Pin Oak Road, Dutchtown-Zion Road, Grand View Road, Hopewell Amwell Road, Rileyville Road, and one crunch up Mine Road. She was getting the hang of it by the end.
