Metabolism: How Your Body Burns Calories
The following video is OK on the subject. It says a person’s metabolism depends on: (1) a person’s size, (2) a person’s body composition, (3) a person’s age, and (4) a person’s sex. In actuality though, points 3 and 4 are really just sub points of point 2. As a person ages their body composition tends to change – lose muscle and gain fat. And the different sexes tend to have different body compositions, too – men tend to have more muscle and less fat than women. But the narrator forgot to mention the REAL third point which is Activity Level. A sedentary person will have a slower metabolism (burn less calories) than a person who exercises regularly.
