Saturday Solo Ride in the Snow: 63 miles
It was in the teens this morning when I left the house at 9:15 or so. I had wanted to get started on the ride by 8:30, but it was just too cold out to do so. I had no game plan as to where I would go on the ride. I thought I was going to break it into three 20-milers with two rest stops to change out of my wet clothes and get refreshed with water and food. But as the ride developed it looked like I was going to do a 52 miler and then add on a 10 miler. Just as I was departing Cranbury on the way home at about mile 43 or so a couple of flurries fell from the sky. It was seriously overcast – the temp never hit 30 today I don’t think. It was at that point I was wondering if I was going to beat the snow. Soon the snow was coming down hard. I figured the only way I was going to finish all 62 miles was to do the ride non-stop. And that is what I did. The fat tires on my Cannondale came in real handy. I was riding on an inch of snow for the last 9 miles or so. CLICK HERE to see the route.
