Thursday Morning PFW Ride
Another nice day for a bike ride. I penciled in a 10 AM ride on the new online PFW Ride Calendar a couple of days ago that included a new start location and a route I’ve never done before. I was planning to meet Alex V for the ride, and he lives up in the New Brunswick area. I was trying to be accommodating by choosing Bicentennial Park in East Brunswick. We talked about our upcoming 750-mile 3.5 day ride starting on October 6th in North Carolina. We kept the pace in the B-range for the first 12 miles or so. But then we picked it up and were riding between 20 and 26 mph thereafter. There was a short stop at the McDonalds in Englishtown to use the restroom. Two bridges were under construction on the route. We had to walk our bikes over the creeks. No harm done.
I don’t know how much I’ll be using the club’s online Ride Calendar in the future. It’s a really neat tool, but as of today I’ve got 11 ride sheets for the year. That’ll qualify me for another ride leader jersey from the club. October is not a good month for me to lead, but maybe I’ll lead some in November and December? We’ll see.
