RUSA Ride #14: 100k
Today I started another cycle of the five 100k routes I own at RUSA. It’s turning into a habit to start off with the Princeton-Freehold Trail route that starts at the 7-Eleven on Nassau Street and heads over to a Wawa on the other side of Freehold. Then retraces the out-route back to the 7-Eleven. It’s easy. It’s simple. And it is new enough to me that it is not boring. Today’s ride has put me in first place as far as distance-for-the-year among New Jerseyans who are members of RUSA. Gil Lebron held top honors until today (sort of). 900k of his 1600k were done in either Florida or North Carolina. If I’d been riding down there I’d have more miles than I currently have.
Today’s ride was not all that fun for me. I was coming off of a really good ride I had yesterday. My legs were heavy. They never got into the groove today. And even though it was nice and sunny out and the air temp was in the 50s, the wind was all over the place. I could not settle into a nice smooth pace for the ride. About a quarter into the ride I thought I was going to finish in over 5 hours. But I guess I’m not as slow as I thought. I finished in about 4:45 or so.
Tomorrow would be a nice day for a ride, but I’m scheduled for a full day of grand jury duty in Trenton. Click on the map below to see the results for today’s ride at Garmin Connect.
