Two Weeks from Today
My biking season with RUSA starts in two weeks. That’s when I drive down to Salisbury, NC to participated in a 1000k bike ride that has a 75-hour time limit. It’s going to start at 6AM on Saturday and end whenever I get to the finish line.
Originally when I decided to sign up for the ride back in November, I thought I would prepare for the ride as if it meant a lot to me. Basically I had planned to be prepared to do a 65-hour or less ride. However, as the winter progressed, and my mood to ride and train didn’t exactly improve, I’m now of the mindset to be prepared enough to finish the event without putting out too much effort. It’ll be little more than a training ride.
The course is supposed to be pretty flat. And I’m not seeing too many riders signing up to participate. So there really won’t be any reason to push the pace. This coming week I plan to try to ride a metric century each day. That should get my tolerance up for a long ride of 1000k. Then pull back a bit during the week before the ride.
