Tuesday Noon RUSA Ride

Tuesday Noon RUSA Ride

It was extremely windy yesterday. And the wind picked up pretty good during my ride today. Felt like I had more headwind than tailwinds to deal with today. This morning I finally put a chain and pedals on my CX bike which has been out of commission since early last November when I decided to install a different crankset on it. The old one was a compact (50-34) whereas this new one is a mountain bike type (38-24).  I’ve got a 12-30 cassette on the back. It took me the first 20 miles or so on this ride to get reacquainted to riding a geared bike. My rides all winter have been on a fixed gear track bike.

All in all, the ride went well. I passed Peter M in the sourlands. He was ending his ride while I was kind of just getting started. Passed one other cyclist out while passing through Hillsborough. The winds yesterday had blown a powerline over the road on Carter Rd near Cherry Valley Rd. A bike could easily get through. But car traffic was definitely not an option and the road had been officially closed.
